Elen Braga's first solo exhibition at Wouters Gallery prompted reflections on fear and power dynamics, beginning with her question "What do you feel when you know the horses are coming? In her earlier work Carousel (2021), the artist referred to the Brussels festival La Boum, which turned from a joke into a protest by young people during the Covid lockdowns, leading to violent clashes with the police, who used horses to disperse the crowd. Braga associates horses with state power while highlighting the complex motivations of the protesters, many of whom came from privileged backgrounds. Through her performances, including playful yet poignant choreography, Braga embodies both strength and vulnerability, inviting viewers to confront their own positions of power.
